Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
While Sarasota does not experience snow or sub-zero temperatures, we have had a few nights dip below freezing. Although it’s warmer than a lot of places, we still need to heat our homes in the winter.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, provides help to those who cannot afford to heat their homes. LIHEAP is federally funded and distributed by the state of Florida to agencies in each county. In Sarasota County, the Salvation Army manages the program, and distributes and accepts applications.
