The Chickens Are Coming!
On Tuesday, the Sarasota City Commission unanimously approved an ordinance to allow the keeping of chickens within the city limits. As a chicken owner myself, I am glad to hear that others will be able to enjoy keeping pets who make breakfast.
Wanting to learn more about this ordinance, I checked out the City of Sarasota’s website. I discovered that they have a searchable database for the city’s official records, including Commission meeting agendas and minutes. But, since the meeting I’m looking for took place only two days ago, the minutes are not yet available.
The city does post videos of meetings online, as well as a short video summary if I don’t have time to watch the whole meeting. And to find out about upcoming meetings, see this schedule.
There will be a second reading of the chicken ordinance before it is official, and now you know how to find out when it will be.
